Nicolette Absil

Nicolette Absil is an award-winning jeweler working in vitreous enamel. In her sunlit Philadelphia studio, Nicolette hand-draws fl oral forms with graphite onto white enamel. Drawing inspiration from a love of nature, hiking, and drawing, Nicolette’s artistic influences include Japanese Ukiyo-e woodblock prints from the 17th through the 19th century. Nicolette won a Saul Bell Design award for her enameling in 2017.

“My work focuses the process and technique of using enameling, the ancient art of fusing glass to metal, in a more contemporary manner. Nature serving as my inspiration. I illustrate serene and delicate imagery that I fuse into enamel and then set the work into hand-fabricated settings. Recently, I have been working with multiples and repeating forms, as well as exploring the life cycles of flowers, capturing different stages of their existence.”
