Marcia Meyers
Marcia Meyers is intrigued by the shapes of scraps ‘left behind’ in her studio, producing strong new work from the negative shapes--the leavings of earlier pieces.
“For me aesthetic integrity, purity and even freshness depend in large part on the highest levels of craftsmanship I am able to attain at any stage of my development. Working in my studio to improve skills and knowledge, I feel like a “kid in a candy store”. There will always be more to learn and ways to improve. I know I will never tire of this exhilarating process.
My work involves a variety of techniques, including mill rolling, hydraulic press and/or die forming, depletion gilding, keum bu, and of course, cutting and soldering.
I have a bachelor’s degree in design and tailoring from Texas Tech and a master of fine arts degree from Cranbrook Academy. I have taken post degree workshops with Andy Cooperman, Pat Flynn, Micki Lippe, Sarah Perkins and Linda Darty."
